Dan Olswang

Dan earned his BA in Economics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1991 and his Juris Doctor Degree from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1996. He attended law school at night and worked full-time during the day in the Law Department at The First National Bank of Chicago. In 1997, Dan became an associate at the law firm Hauselman & Rappin, Ltd. He was elected partner in 2005 at the age of 35, where he remained a partner thru 2018.

At Hauselman, Rappin & Olswang, Ltd., Dan supervised and managed all of the firm’s associates and paralegals specifically involved in the foreclosure, bankruptcy, and litigation practice groups.

He specializes in representing banks, mortgage servicers, creditors, and sellers, buyers and developers of real estate. This highly focused concentration has resulted in a high level of expertise and experience in all areas of lending, corporate law, real estate law, bankruptcy law and many types of commercial litigation.

Dan also has extensive experience in representing clients in contested complex commercial and civil litigation in both the state and federal trial and appellate courts, including the Illinois Supreme Court. He has also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

He has concluded tens of thousands of commercial and residential foreclosures, workouts, and real estate sales. He is also an Illinois licensed real estate agent.

Dan has served as general counsel for numerous small to medium sized businesses during his legal career.

Dan is and has been a member of various bar associations and professional organizations and prides himself in working closely with clients and maintaining long-term relationships.
